Community Health

Claudette Hill, RN, BSN, MSN (Candidate) brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to community well-being as the Director for Community Health at Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) Northwell Health, a position she has held since November 2020. In this critical role, Ms. Hill leads efforts to address the Social Determinants of Health, focusing on delivering vital education, health screenings, and promoting health equity to 'Raise Health' for all Staten Islanders.

Under her dynamic leadership, Ms. Hill has developed and implemented several impactful community programs. These include "Easy Breathing," an innovative asthma education program for students that not only teaches about household and environmental asthma triggers but also highlights the importance of trees in filtering pollution, culminating in tree-planting activities at local schools. She also champions "Voices for Peace," a community initiative designed to "Unite, Learn, and Thrive" by actively engaging and amplifying the voices of youth around the complex issue of gun violence.

Ms. Hill's extensive career at Staten Island University Hospital began in December 1997. After starting in Outreach Services and serving as a staffing clerk while pursuing her education, she earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from the College of Staten Island in 2008. She launched her nursing career in SIUH's busy Emergency Department, where her exceptional leadership skills were quickly recognized, leading to her promotion as Assistant Patient Care Manager of the Emergency Department in 2011, and subsequently in a medical-surgical unit. Further broadening her clinical and administrative expertise, Ms. Hill dedicated six years as an RN Manager in the Case Management Department starting in 2014.

Claudette holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Chamberlain College of Nursing, where she is currently advancing her education by pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Population Health, reflecting her continuous dedication to public health impact and advanced nursing practice.
