At Partnerships for Community Wellness, we pride ourselves on our ability to pivot and respond to the most pressing challenges with precision and purpose. By bridging the gap between emerging threats and actionable community solutions, we ensure that our public health infrastructure is not just reactive but resilient.

The Issue

  • During the COVID Pandemic, SI has historically had the lowest rates of COVID vaccine uptake among the 5 boroughs
  • Misinformation at the federal level regarding vaccine safety has resulted in Staten Island children having low childhood vaccination rates
  • Increased frequency of extreme weather has exposed the vulnerabilities of coastal communities
  • Changes in federal policies are impacting health and social services access

Strategies

  • Working closely with NYC leadership to ensure access to accurate and timely information regarding vaccine safety, public health threats, and recommendations
  • Building awareness of changing Medicaid work requirements and recertification processes for both communities and providers
  • Building awareness of climate change as a public health issue
  • Creating spaces for the community to advise city agencies in climate-related responses

Partnerships for Community Wellness is a public health nonprofit dedicated to serving Staten Island and beyond. We focus on behavioral health, maternal and child health, and emerging public health issues.
